Cy's costume was thrown together at the last minute from his normal wardrobe (except the make-up of course). When they ran through the neighborhood, ringing doorbell after doorbell, it brought back distinct and fond memories of doing the same when I was a child.
Cyrus is already talking about what he will be next year.

In early September, we met up with our friends, the Haaks, in Chicago. We had lived right next door to them in Seattle, and have missed them since we moved to the midwest. Now, they live in Bloomington, IN which makes Chicago a nice halfway point for both families. Our trip included the the public zoo, Shedd Aquarium, walks along the waterfront, and lots of smiles and laughter. It was as though we hadn't missed a day hanging out with Trish, David and Samantha.

Each time we cut their hair, it gets it little easier, they are a little less sad.

Lots of squirming, but I managed to snap the kids together in the same light on the Tall Ship Manitou. We had a great week with all of the Gaunts (and Struckmans) in Traverse City, Michigan. Hopefully more photographic records to come on this and my other blogs...

cousins

We recently traveled to NJ for my dad's 70th and got to spend another few days with Cy and Ro's cousins. Since all three are older than Cyrus, my boys idolize them, much as I idolized my older cousins when I was small.
Despite a staggered spell of sickness that hit everyone in the house, we managed to spend quality time with each cousin. Here are a few from the weekend:
